Message From The Principal

Mr. Rabi Prasad Baral
Dear all,
It is my great pleasure to write at the conclusion of a successful and rewarding year and to greet you once again with ‘The Gandaki’, the annual school souvenir of the academic year 2066 (2009/10) marking the completion of 43 years of valuable service of GBS and 11 years of GCES to our nation.
We started the academic year 2066 with a vision to promote GBS and GCES as the institution of eminence,a place for generation of leaders, grounded in values and global in outlook through our commitment to educate our students to their fullest potential. During this year, our school and college pursued their goals of academic excellence, the development of students’ talents in extra curricular activities and the building of character. These goals are embodied in our motto: “Knowledge, Character and Service”. We have really led it with the spirit of innovation and enterprise and the year 2066 remained comparatively peaceful, trouble-free and exciting year for both the school and the college.
We tried our best to maintain balance in its academic progress and co-curricular activities. The cultural, sporting and intramural activities have become more of a norm than an event in GBS and GCES this year. The examination results this year were once again excellent. Our students also did the various extra curricular activities well. One highlight that stands out the winning and declaring the regional champion of the 2009 Inter School Coca Cola Football Tournament organised by ANFA – a great achievement. Congratulations to all those staff and students whose hard work has been mirrored in excellent results.
The class wise parents’ meetings and the interaction programmes we conducted were really productive. We could successfully run several Talk Programmes related to the choice of further studies and career guidance throughout the year mainly for the outgoing Classes 10 and 12.
GBS as a whole was acknowledged as the best school in the district this year too. Mr. Chet Nath Bhandari, Mr. Krishna Bahadur Thapa, Mr. Santa Bahadur VK and Mrs. Sony Thapa received awards from District Education Office, Kaski for the best performance in their respective areas. Mr. Surya Bahadur Gurung, Mr. Man Bahadur Thapa, Mr. Shree Ram Adhikari, Mr. Matrika Prasad Baral and Mrs. Kabita Baral were also awarded by the School for their best performance in their subjects in the SLC results in 2065.
A historical Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) has been signed in between GCES, an extension to GBS and Kookmin University of Seoul, Korea. The tie with such a prestigious institution outside has definitely proved to be a cornerstone and will surely boost up the morale of faculty members and students. And at the same time it has proved to be a landmark in the development of GBS. GBS management has completed the procedure to introduce the study of A Level under Cambridge University from Asar 2067. It will be another option and opportunity to study international Cambridge level course for the students of Western Nepal. The school has prepared a long-term plan to develop it as a model school and the proposal for the same has been submitted to the Ministry of Education to materialise it. We have planned to establish a Resource Center to upgrade its educational activities and to keep up the modern trends of education.
I would like to acknowledge the visit of the then Hon’ble Minister for Education Mr. Ram Chandra Kushwaha and the Secretary for the Ministry of Education Mr. Dipendra Bikram Thapa this year. The cooperation, suggestions and encouragement that the school has received from the Ministry of Education (MOE) have always been inspirational to us. I am indebted to the Board of Trustees (BOT), the Management Committee (MC) and the Parents’ and Teachers’ Association (PTA) for their continuous supports to uphold its ideals and to expand its influence in the educational sector of Nepal. I am equally thankful to the parents and guardians for their unwavering trust and well-wishers for their continued support. The editorial board and designers deserve a hearty praise for the amazing level of hard work they have put in bringing out this issue of The Gandaki. I hope readers will enjoy going through this souvenir.
I sincerely wish to the students for their hard work, positive attitudes and unceasing perseverance. I owe gratefulness to the teachers for their constant devotion and administrative staff for their untiring dedication. Let’s look to the future and work together to keep our institute the center of excellence that it has become.
Finally, I wish you all a Happy and Meaningful Year 2067.

Mr. Rabi Prasad Baral
